Stem splitter: vocals and instrumental, in your browser
Upload a song and the AI splits it into two stems: the vocals, and everything else as the instrumental. Download either one, or set your own balance between them and hear it change as it plays.

How to split a song into stems
- Step 1
Upload the song
An audio file you have the rights to use. Music videos can be uploaded on Premium.
- Step 2
Wait for the split
The AI writes the vocal to one stem and the rest of the song to the other. You see the progress on screen while it works.
- Step 3
Mix or download the stems
Play them together at any balance, or download the vocal stem, the instrumental stem or your mix as MP3 or WAV.
Two stems, stated plainly
This splitter gives two stems: the vocals, and the instrumental (everything that is not the voice). It does not split the instrumental further into drums, bass, guitar or piano. If you need four or more stems, a multi-stem tool is the right choice; if you need a clean vocal and a clean backing track, this is the quick way to get them without installing anything.
Each upload gives you both stems, so there is nothing to choose before you start.
What people use the two stems for
- Karaoke and practice: the instrumental stem is the song without the singer.
- Covers and remixes: the vocal stem is the singer on their own, ready to place over a new beat.
- Learning a part by ear: keep the original vocal quietly under the instrumental as a guide.
- Speech over music: the same split pulls a voice away from background music in a video or podcast.
Splitting by sound, not by time
Some people searching for an audio splitter want to cut a file into shorter pieces. This tool does something different: it separates the sources that play at the same time (the voice and the music), and both stems keep the full length of the original.
Questions about splitting stems
How many stems do I get?
Two: a vocal stem and an instrumental stem. Drums, bass and other instruments stay together in the instrumental.
Is downloading the stems free?
Yes. Downloading either stem, or your own mix of the two, is free on every plan, within the plan's audio limits.
Do I need to install anything?
No. It runs in the browser on a computer or a phone, and the splitting happens on our servers, so it does not need a fast graphics card on your side.
How clean are the stems?
Studio recordings with one clear lead vocal split most cleanly. Live recordings and heavily compressed files can leave faint traces of the voice in the instrumental, or the other way round.
Is it free?
Yes. Without an account you get 3 files up to 3 minutes each, 6 minutes in total, with no sign-up. A free account raises that to 30 minutes per file and 60 minutes of audio per day, still with no card. Premium allows up to 5 hours per file, 10 hours of audio per day, and fair use of 100 hours per 30 days.
Which files can I upload, and what do I get back?
On every plan: audio files (WAV, MP3, M4A, AAC, FLAC, OGG and Opus). Video files (MP4, MOV, WebM, MKV, AVI and WMV) need Premium; the sound is taken from the video and you download the cleaned audio. Results download as MP3 or WAV.
What happens to my recording?
It is used only to make your result. It is never used to train models, and both the upload and the result are deleted automatically after 7 days.
